The best shoes ever

After months of waiting for the coveted floral Docs to appear on TradeMe I was rewarded! The beautiful pair on the right were waiting for me at the doorstep after my driving lesson today.
I probably paid a bit much but I couldn't care right now (and really they only came out at $60 as I sold my black patent pair last week too).

I got this pin when we were in Sydney a few weeks ago. My sister, Mum and I went to see Wicked, then won the lottery for two front row seats a few days later!
That was my third time seeing the show (also saw it in London last year). I can't wait 'till it gets to NZ!
Oh and I did wear my Ruby slippers to both shows.

Today's a bit of a lazy day, as I am back at Uni tomorrow! I'm excited because this semester we actually get to make full garments, I hope I can keep my grades up but I was pleasantly surprised with my marks for the first half so I must be doing something good.

Decided to watch Mary Poppins today (thanks Youtube, you always have the Disney movies I need). Such a wonderful movie, boaters galore!!

One of the most iconic pair of shoes in cinematic history are the Ruby Slippers, worn by Dorothy Gale in the Wizard Of Oz.

These magical shoes offer those of us with crafty minds a challenge - to create our own!

So after being inspired by these gorgeous replicas on Etsy, I went out and purchased 17 metres of sequins and got to work.

I decided to forgo the bow for now as I thought it made them a little too cutesy, but I may add some plain sequined ones later when I have the time.

Dolls and Displays

I thought I should post my crafted jewelery frame sometime so here it is!
I got the instructions from the ModCloth blog.

And as a bonus here's my little doll necklace!

Obviously a rip off of Servan Gaxottes necklaces but I couldn't pass her up!
She originally had a checkered skirt on and hung from a pretty ugly chain so I crafted her a lovely lace skirt and put her on a simple silver chain.

Nearly Midnight

My favourite necklace recently stopped working (I think it had something to do with dropping it of the changing room floor in Glassons) so I've set it to nearly midnight as a reference to Cinderella :)

This was originally a brooch. It had a bow that the clock hung off, but now it's just a bow and a necklace.
